At age three, you can start teaching your kid how to properly hold a pencil. And don't worry, there are lots of fun ways to teach this fine motor skill.

Teaching my then-four-year-old daughter, Ann, how to print her name was exasperating. With only two different letters, I wondered how it could be so hard. But even connecting three dots to form part of a capital A seemed beyond her. Sometimes, the pencil would shoot right past the target dot; other times, it would get there with such a meandering curve that it didn’t look like a line at all. I was eager for Ann to be able to print her name Alexander McQueen Crêpe offtheshoulder gown Lipstick Cost Cheap Price Outlet Collections Buy Cheap 100% Guaranteed Xq3NS
. Little did I know, kids need to master lots of skills before forming those first squiggly letters.

by the time she started kindergarten

Remember your doctor asking if your one-year-old could pick up a small piece of food with two fingers? She wanted to know if his pincer grip was developing, the first check in making sure his fine motor skills (the ability to do things with the small muscles in his hands) were on track. These skills, along with hand and arm strength and hand-eye coordination, lay the early groundwork for printing. fine motor skills

According to Lizette Alexander, an occupational therapist who runs Hand Skills for Children Toronto Occupational Therapy, at three years old, your child should be able to draw horizontal and vertical lines, cut with scissors and remove lids from small containers; at four, draw horizontal and vertical lines that cross, snip a straight line and lace with string; by five, trace lines, coy a square and cut out a circle.

The good news is that much of what a child does in the preschool years (scribbling, crafts, working with playdough) naturally develops his skills. Even trying to colour within the lines is an important activity that builds strength and control in the forearm. For older kids, mazes and dot-to-dots are great practise for drawing straight lines, which they’ll need to master to form many letters. (My energetic daughter wasn’t interested in these sit-down activities, which is probably why printing came slowly for her.)

Why is the sky blue?

A lot of other smart people have, too. And it took a long time to figure it out!

The light from the sun looks white. But it is really made up of all the colors of the rainbow.

When white light shines through a prism, the light is separated into all its colors. A prism is a specially shaped crystal.

If you visited Calvin Klein Flatiron 30 Laptop Case Brown Buy Cheap Largest Supplier Websites Cheap Price Clearance Countdown Package Discount Real Outlet Excellent BHHdlckdD
, you learned that the light you see is just one tiny bit of all the kinds of light energy beaming around the universe--and around you!

Like energy passing through the ocean, light energy travels in waves, too. Some light travels in short, "choppy" waves. Other light travels in long, lazy waves. Blue light waves are shorter than red light waves.

All light travels in a straight line unless something gets in the way and does one of these things:—

reflect it (like a mirror)

bend it (like a prism)

or scatter it (like molecules of the gases in the atmosphere)

Sunlight reaches Earth's atmosphere and is scattered in all directions by all the gases and particles in the air. Blue light is scattered in all directions by the tiny molecules of air in Earth's atmosphere. Blue is scattered more than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time.

Closer to the horizon, the sky fades to a lighter blue or white. The sunlight reaching us from low in the sky has passed through even more air than the sunlight reaching us from overhead. As the sunlight has passed through all this air, the air molecules have scattered and re scattered the blue light many times in many directions .

Also, the surface of Earth has reflected and scattered the light. All this scattering mixes the colors together again so we see more white and less blue.

As the sun gets lower in the sky, its light is passing through more of the atmosphere to reach you. Even more of the blue light is scattered, allowing the reds and yellows to pass straight through to your eyes.

Sometimes the whole western sky seems to glow. The sky appears red because small particles of dust, pollution, or other aerosols also scatter blue light, leaving more purely red and yellow light to go through the atmosphere.
